Our History
The Greater Thankful Missionary Baptist Church was founded in 1889 in Anniston, AL. Over the years, the congregation has endured many ups and downs together, including a tragic fire. This caused the move to our current location. Greater Thankful has become a strong staple in the community through the God-led vision of 7 pastors. Over the last 50 years, the church has been blessed to see many upgrades, additions, and advancements. Greater Thankful has a history of electing pastors who are natives of the church. GT continued this trend with our current pastor, Rev. Byron Jackson, who was elected in April of 2014.
Under our current leadership, our church is on a trajectory for a ministry approach that is more modern, making many structural and technological adjustments and advancements. We are also revamping our entire youth department. God is continuously blessing our church as we seek to become more engaged in our community. We have, are, and will continue to give all glory to the Lord for every step we make in fulfilling His call for the people of our church.
